¡ En Guardia ! - Argentine fencer visits Whitchurch - 7th October 2025

Well done to Clara Elicabe for fencing allcomers at the club on Tuesday !
Clara, 16, is in Britain during October along with 70 other pupils from St John’s School in Buenos Aires, taking part in a Hockey & Volleyball tour, visiting Cardiff, and then York, Newcastle, Edinburgh and London.
An enthusiast fencer, who has already made her mark in her home country, having represented Argentina in Women’s Epee in her own age group, she was keen to have the chance to fit in some fencing whilst here !
Several club fencers commented on her well timed hits, including foot shots. “She seemed very talented and a good fencer, and definitely one to watch out for in future”, said one of our upcoming fencers !
Club Secretary Michael Clemitson presented Clara, and staff member John Harrison, with Welsh souvenirs – a woolly bonnet, and a sports cap - and in turn was presented with a commemorative shield from St John’s, a well known school in Argentina, covering all age groups, with lessons in Spanish & English - and celebrating its 75th anniversary this year !
