Learning to Fence
We offer a short beginners course to learn fencing.   The course is aimed to take you
from “complete beginner” to be able to join in fencing matches at the club.
The weapon taught is the Epée, this sword being the modern equivalent of the Rapier,
a duelling sword where thrusts can be made to any part of the body.
Cost:
The cost, which includes membership of the British Fencing Association via Welsh Fencing,
and your first 6 visits to the club, is £45.00.
Tuition:
Lessons will be 50-60 minutes duration, given by Club members, over a 6 week period.
As far as possible, these will be conducted as coaching, in groups of 2-3, rather than as a larger class.
There will also be the opportunity to fence with other club members,
where possible.     An achievement certificate will be issued on completion.     Minimum age 16.
Equipment/ Clothing:
You will need trainers, long trousers or track suit.   The club will provide swords,
jackets, masks to get you started, subject to availability.   After your course of tuition,
members are expected to then obtain their own kit.   We can provide
advice and guidance regarding this.
